"How & Why" we do things...

Giving quotes over the phone.

When you call me and ask for a price, I can't give you an exact price because I don't know what's broken or what it needs. Even if you ask other companies for a rebuilt differential, there will always be a core charge. I only charge for whats damaged or what it takes to build your differential. If you only need bearings, or a gear set, or a carrier or an axle, that's all you are paying for. If you blow it up beyond repair, I will probably say don't fix it, let's get a used diff from a salvage yard. If you buy one, bring it by and I'll inspect and reseal it.

Why we don't charge for Inspections.

During all my years in business, I've never charged for a partial tear down and inspection because I've never had to put one back together. I want you to hang around and watch open your diff for inspection. I'll show you what happened and what caused the problem. I'm like a forensic detective.  Information is power. If I can show you what happened then it might prevent it from happening again.

Why we ask so many questions.

If you call me on the phone, I'll ask when and what you are doing when you hear that noise or feel that clunk or vibration. Most of the time, I'll have you do some tests as you drive your vehicle. Then I'll know exactly what part went bad and have a chance to explain what's going on.

Why we want the customer to watch us "Tear Down".

I know most shops don't want you in the shop. First, they say its because of their Insurance Policy....., Second, They are not in the business to teach. I have to say, I don't mind the customer watching me tear down their differential. I just don't want the customer to watch when I'm building their diff because they either want to hold something or hand me a tool. It throws off my timing or Mister Murphy shows up and everything turns to shit.   You know what I mean!

Why we allow customers to bring own parts.

Things have changed over the years. In the old days, I bought bearings, seals, hard parts at 60% off list price. The warehouse would never sell to the         public. There were 4 levels of pricing. Today, most of the time the customer (because of his determination on the Internet, they can buy cheaper than I can. When they do that, I usually want to know where so I can get a better price. I can't warranty something I don't sell, but if I cause the failure, I will replace their part. So far, So good!

Sometimes we need a down payment.

I'm in my second year of business and I am getting more business every day. Sometimes, I'll ask you to pay for the parts up front because I don't have a big mark up my parts. I mostly make my money on Labor.

Why we don't build by "The Book".

The manufacturer builds an obsolescence factor into everything. I have always said. "I don't build by the book, I build to last". I've been building for over 40 years and found that it works fine for me.  Growing up, I always thought the factory makes money on parts and they build

Why we give a "Low / High labor quotes.

The reason why we give you a low/high labor quote is because sometimes I might have to take your R&P in and out 2 to 6 times. I don't mind because I will do what ever it takes to get that perfect pattern.

"In or Out" of the vehicle.

Of course rebuilding differentials at the bench is much easier then lifting your vehicle and do an in frame rebuild. So it's up to you.
